Archery GB Youth Festival

Ryan continued to work extremely hard over the summer, training every day which included one to one coaching from Archery GB coach Damien Lennon, training sessions with the Northern Ireland Performance Academy and competing in various outdoor shoots.

In July, Ryan was again selected to travel to the Archery GB Youth Festival at Lilleshall in Shropshire. About 160 young archers from across the UK and Ireland attended for a week of competitions.

Throughout the week Ryan shot in the qualification rounds, individual matches, team matches and mixed team matches and was ranked 2nd in his category. Ryan won two medals, a Silver medal in the Recurve Cub Individual and a Bronze medal in the Recurve Cub Team. The Individual final was televised and extremely nerve wracking for those watching as Ryan just missed out on the Gold.

Ryan got to use the fantastic facilities that the Archery GB teams use at Lillieshall and chat to the different Olympic archers and coaches.

While over in England Ryan also travelled to the home of his sponsors, Merlin Archery, where he got a tour of the shop and factory. He was shown how the different parts of the various bows are manufactured and came home with some new kit.
